Ride MCTS App Terms and Conditions

Thank you for using the RideMCTS mobile application. The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) may modify the terms and conditions relating to this mobile application at any time by posting revised terms and conditions. By viewing this page, you agree to accept these terms and conditions, as well as the general terms, conditions and privacy statement relating to the RideMCTS website managed by MCTS. 

Mobile Fares

A mobile fare refers to a type of fare for buses, which is purchased only through the RideMCTS mobile app through an iOS or Android device. The security of your mobile device or fare is your responsibility. If the fare or your mobile device is lost or stolen, MCTS will not provide a duplicate or replacement ticket. Your valid mobile fare should be activated as the bus is approaching and displayed clearly on the mobile phone screen to the bus operator when boarding. Bus operators are not allowed to touch or otherwise interact with your mobile device. If you are unable to show a valid fare, you may be subject to a fine or asked to leave the vehicle. If the mobile fare has been damaged or is not readable in any way, the fare becomes invalid and a new one must be purchased. If you delete the RideMCTS mobile app, your fares will still be accessible using the login you created during setup. You cannot print or transfer mobile fares.

Standard Fares

The price of a mobile fare is part of the standard MCTS fare structure. When you purchase a mobile fare on the RideMCTS mobile app you will be notified of the price of the fare before you confirm your purchase. All new, active, and expired fares are shown in the mobile application under “Orders”. For more information on fares, please visit www.RideMCTS.com.

Mobile Application

MCTS grants you the right to download, install and use the RideMCTS mobile app on your Android or iOS device to purchase tickets and access information in accordance with these terms and conditions. You do not and will not own the mobile app or any information that is provided to you through it or MCTS, but you may use the app with these terms and conditions. The mobile app is provided to you free of charge. MCTS can suspend access to purchases through the mobile application at any time for any reason with or without notice.

Data charges

The RideMCTS mobile app is free but data charges may be incurred to you by your network provider. You are responsible for any such costs. MCTS is not responsible for any connectivity issues you may experience.

Availability & Updates

The RideMCTS Mobile Fare is valid for travel in the MCTS service area. The travel is based on fare applicability on MCTS buses at the time of purchasing a fare. The Mobile Fare is valid when activated on the RideMCTS mobile app after purchase. You may not start your journey until you have a valid, active ticket. Once purchased, the Mobile Fare will specify the fare type and the validity of the fare and its expiration date.

The mobile ticket is valid when the ticket is activated on the mobile app after purchase. Once purchased, the mobile ticket will specify the fare type and the validity of the ticket and its expiration date. MCTS reserves the right to issue updates to the mobile application, in which case you may not be able to continue use of the version of the mobile application installed on your mobile handset without downloading the relevant update. MCTS recommends that you download and install all updates issued. MCTS is not liable for errors which become apparent in old versions of the mobile application.

Trip Planning

For trip-planning purposes, the RideMCTS mobile app collects real-time information about the location of your device. If you do not want us to collect this information do not use the website and do not download the App or delete it from your device.

Changes, refunds and ticket expiration

There are no refunds for fares – mobile or otherwise. Any other associated fees are non-refundable.

If you think that we have made an error in taking or processing your mobile fare purchase, please call MCTS customer service during normal business hours.

Materials, Ownership and Restrictions on Use

The RideMCTS mobile app is owned and operated by MCTS and any data, text, graphics, images, audio and video clips, logos, icons, and links and any intellectual property and other rights relating thereto, are and will remain the exclusive property of MCTS. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you may not copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit or distribute the RideMCTS mobile app or any of its content without MCTS’s prior written permission. Use or downloading of the RideMCTS mobile app is conditioned on acceptance of the terms and conditions of this agreement. By using or downloading the mobile ticketing app, you agree to such terms and conditions.

Liability Disclaimer

In no event will MCTS be liable for any direct, indirect, special, punitive, exemplary or consequential losses or damages of whatsoever kind arising out of your use or access to the RideMCTS mobile application, including loss of profit or the like whether or not in the contemplation of the parties, whether based on breach of contract, tort (including negligence), product liability or otherwise.

MCTS is not liable to you for any damage or alteration to your equipment including but not limited to computer equipment or mobile device as a result of the installation or use of the RideMCTS mobile app. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or limit MCTS’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
